Candles as a guide in dark times

Despite the cloudy and wet weather, the pupils and their teachers made their way to Gronau city center as they do every year. There they visited St. Antonius Church for their Advent service. Inside the church, atmospheric lighting created a contemplative atmosphere.

Pastor Edward Pawolka, who stood in for Thomas Klümper, led the service. The theme was the light that shines brightly in the darkness. In his sermon, the priest used a story to illustrate how the light - no matter how small - provides security and offers orientation even from a distance. The intercessions were recited by children from the fourth year. Between the prayers and the story, the children sang together. Ms. Dalhaus accompanied the songs on the piano, which she had previously rehearsed with the children in class. The priest was visibly impressed by the musical performance of the children present.

The service left a lasting impression on those present and reminded them how important light and hope are in difficult times.

We wish everyone a peaceful Advent season and happy holidays.
