Once again this year, the staff at Buterland School welcome new first-graders to their school.
The second and third graders formed a cheerful line at the entrance to the school and greeted the new first graders with colorful scarves. The bright colors and warm waves created a festive and warm atmosphere that made it easier for the youngest to start their new phase of life.
The welcome to the school enrolment ceremony was given by the acting principal, Ms. Hüning, who warmly greeted the audience. This was followed by a musical performed by the fourth-year pupils. The performance focused on the impending demolition of the school, which was announced by an evil woman from the building inspectorate. This dramatic storyline was partly based on true events and was supported by modified songs from the Disney classic Mary Poppins, which made the performance particularly impressive.
The fourth graders, who act as new mentors to the first graders, rehearsed diligently both before the summer vacation and on the first day of school to give the new students a joyful and motivating start to their school day with a successful performance.
This enrolment could be the last in front of the old and typical facade of the Buterland School, which has characterized the image of the school building for decades. With the imminent demolition of the school, the future is uncertain and a new plan will have to be drawn up next year to provide the first graders with a suitable and festive enrolment ceremony.
The staff at Buterland School wish you a wonderful time at school full of exciting experiences, new friendships and lots of fun learning!
