Buterland school on the hunt for garbage

The municipal waste collection campaign "Gronau cleans itself up" is taking place for the 23rd time this year and invites all citizens to take part on March 15, 2025 from 10:00 to 14:00. Volunteers from clubs, associations, initiatives, companies, neighborhoods and individuals are called upon to support the clean-up campaign in Gronau and Epe.

On Friday, the third year of Buterland School took part in the city's litter collection campaign. Equipped with safety vests, gloves and bin bags, the pupils roamed the area around the school to collect litter. The aim of this campaign was to raise the children's awareness of caring for and protecting nature. Many thanks to the parents who volunteered to support and accompany the children.

A lot came together: Plastic bottles, candy wrappers, glass bottles, cigarette butts and even a car license plate were found. The children were surprised and at the same time appalled at how much garbage is simply carelessly thrown into the countryside. The question of why people do this came up frequently. There was a great deal of incomprehension about the fact that waste is not disposed of properly. This makes it all the more important for the staff at Buterland School to raise children's awareness of this issue at an early age. Through such activities, they should learn to take responsibility for their environment and actively work to keep nature clean.

Special thanks go to the dedicated parents who actively supported the children during this campaign. With their help, the groups were able to work safely and efficiently so that even more garbage could be collected. Their commitment shows how important it is to work together - not only at school, but also in the community as a whole. Without their support, it would hardly have been possible to carry out the campaign so successfully.
