Puzzle caterpillars & math artists

Once again this year, all third and fourth year pupils at Buterland School took part in the Kangaroo competition. The children tackled the tricky math problems with great concentration and enthusiasm.

The following students were particularly successful this year:

Placed
From left: Gabriel (4a), Henri (4b), Justus (3c), Jonna (4a), Nina (4c), Lilly (3b)

Year 3:

  1. Place: Lilly (3b)
  2. Place: Vlad (3a)
  3. Place: Justus (3c)

Year 4:

  1. Place: Henri (4b)
  2. Place: Jonna (4a)
  3. Place: Nina (4c)

A special round of applause went to Gabriel from class 4a, who managed the so-called kangaroo jump this year - in other words, he was able to give the most correct answers in a row.

Of course, all the other children didn't go away empty-handed either: All participants received the exciting puzzle caterpillar. This is a long caterpillar with rotating elements that have to be aligned to form a specific figure. The puzzle is supported by an accompanying booklet. At the beginning, the colors of the elements are completely visible, later only individual parts are shown in color. As soon as the certificates and gifts were presented, many children enthusiastically tried to recreate the colorful figures. The seven best puzzlers in the competition received a special gift for their great performance.

The staff of the Buterland School would like to congratulate all participants - especially the winners!
