The school trip to Damme took place from October 7 to 9 and was an unforgettable experience for all participating children and accompanying adults. Each class went through a varied program, albeit in a different order.
A particular highlight of the first afternoon and the entire second day was building a marble run out of natural materials in the forest. The children were able to give free rein to their creativity and design impressive tracks together with their classmates. The program also included a hike along the picturesque mountain lake, which was broken up by various community games. Other groups had the opportunity to build imaginative houses from collected natural materials. This involved delicate precision work, as these houses were built for the dwarves of the forest. This meant that they had to be stable and yet the right size. An additional part of the program consisted of cooperation and competition games, in which the pupils were also allowed to compete against their teachers at times.
An exciting night hike awaited the children on the first evening. Equipped with flashlights, the route led through the forest adjacent to the youth hostel. A particular challenge during the excursion was that the children were sometimes allowed to walk through the dark forest without light and even individually. This courageous experience left a lasting impression on many of them.
The second evening was all about music and good humor. First there was a communal dinner with burgers and chips, which was accompanied by the appropriate song "Burgerpommes" at the end. All the children sang along so loudly that the other schools became aware of the fourth-year pupils and peered curiously into the dining hall. Afterwards, the youth hostel was transformed into a disco. The children had dressed up and partied to the hits of the evening, such as "Bauch, Beine, Po", "Dorfkinder" and "Tanz mit Tante Rita". Snacks and drinks were also served.
On Wednesday, after breakfast together, the pupils set off on their return journey. They arrived back at school with lots of great memories in their luggage.
