Taking part for the first time: the children from class 2c, who proudly represented their year.

Once again this year, Buterland School showed off its sporting prowess at the city championships in relay swimming and made an impressive statement last Friday (21.02.2025) with strong performances. The selected pupils from years two to four took on the challenge with great ambition and proved that they are among the best swimmers in the city of Gronau.

Thanks to intensive preparation in the swimming lessons - including practising starting jumps, smooth handovers and fast swimming techniques - the children were highly motivated at the start. The pupils from class 2c took part for the first time. They represented the other two classes in the year group, as they were the only ones taking part in swimming lessons at school. This meant that the swimming teachers could only get an idea of their abilities in the water from them. With this special responsibility in mind, they entered the race with great ambition to represent their school and their year group in the best possible way.

They competed against the elementary school from Gronau and Epe in exciting matches and showed great team spirit and stamina. After a total of eight thrilling competitions, the boys from Buterland School achieved a strong 4th place and only just missed out on the podium. The girls' team fought with full commitment and finished in 6th place overall. In view of the strong competition from the Eper elementary school, this is a remarkable success that underlines the sporting ambition and commitment of the pupils.

Proud and with their heads held high, the children returned to the Buterland School with their swimming instructors, where they were honored with certificates for their outstanding achievements. These successes motivate the young talents to continue working on their swimming skills and prepare for the upcoming competitions.

Many of the participants are already looking forward to the individual competitions in the Parkfreibad in the summer, where the fastest swimmers can once again demonstrate their skills. The staff and all the pupils at Buterland School are proud of the sporting achievements of the young talents and everyone is looking forward to future competitions.
