The first and second years went on a trip to the zoo in Nordhorn on Tuesday. The family-friendly zoo is known for its naturalistic design and is home to both native and exotic animals. Despite the summer heat, it was pleasant between the zoo's many trees, which made the visit a little more enjoyable.
There was plenty for the children to discover: from native animals such as the kingfisher, owl, duck, stork, donkey, pig, goose and rabbit to exotic inhabitants such as American bison, South American alpacas, turkeys and zebras. The pupils were also very enthusiastic in their search for their class animals, including hedgehogs, foxes, mice, owls, seahorses and pandas (unfortunately the latter could not be found).
A special highlight at the end was playing on the large playground before everyone arrived back at school at 12:30 pm, tired but happy. Despite the high temperatures, it was a successful excursion.
