From wild growth to the winter bed

The raised bed beforehand

The school's raised bed was carefully winterized. At the beginning, it was in a very overgrown state, as no further maintenance work had been carried out since the summer planting campaign.

Several children from the OGS agreed to take on the maintenance together with Mr. Zellner. The first step was to completely remove the accumulated leaves, all weeds and remaining plant debris from the raised bed. Once the area had been completely cleaned, it was replanted with hardy plants such as heather and silver wire plants.

Finally, the freshly planted plants were watered thoroughly so that the raised bed is optimally prepared for the cold season. During the work, the first ideas for next spring's design have already emerged. The children are particularly looking forward to this, as the raised bed will have to be moved due to the upcoming renovation of the old building, creating new design possibilities.
