On November 21, 2025, the nationwide Read Aloud Day took place under the motto "Reading aloud speaks your language". This special day was also celebrated at our school with a variety of activities that were all about multilingualism and the joy of storytelling.
Each teacher had selected a book in advance that matched the theme in order to introduce the children to a story about language, communication and cultural diversity. This did not stop at the traditional reading aloud: Numerous creative activities such as designing bookmarks or making animal masks brought the stories to life and turned them into an interactive experience.
The type of reading was just as varied as the stories themselves. Some teachers projected the pictures large on the wall, others used the traditional picture book. Some classes were also supported by parents who read the stories in another language, giving the children new linguistic impressions.
The pupils were immersed in stories about strong friendships, exciting adventures and courageous heroes and heroines. The motto "Reading aloud speaks your language" was brought to life not only in terms of content, but also in the way we worked together.
The reading day made it clear how much stories connect and how important reading and storytelling are for a shared future. The children will remember the many impressions of this day for a long time to come.
