OGS Has Rhythm in Its Blood

For six weeks, the children in the after-school care groups had learned various dances and music games and practiced diligently. Shortly before the break, they had the chance to show what they had learned during that time. At a dance performance in the gym, they showcased their skills in front of the other OGS children, the parents of the children’s dance group, and school staff.

Under the energetic guidance of Gika (Angelika Buss-Engemann from Turnverein Gronau 1887 e.V.), the children performed the dances they had rehearsed with great enthusiasm. The younger dancers from the first two grades performed the “Türmchen” dance. They danced to the official sing-along song for Gronau’s city mascot, accompanied by a simple, easy-to-follow choreography.

The third- and fourth-graders then got the crowd going with a lively dance routine set to the well-known song “September” by the band Earth, Wind & Fire. With a great sense of rhythm, they brought the music to life through movement.

The Pirate Dance served as the grand finale. It wasn’t just the children from the dance club who performed; the audience was also invited to join in and let the music carry them away. As a result, the finale became a shared dancing experience that brought smiles to many faces.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Gika and everyone involved who made this special dance experience possible for the children. The performance was a powerful demonstration of just how much joy music, movement, and dancing together can bring.
