At the start of the new school year, Buterland School warmly welcomed its new first-graders. A special welcome awaited the new students right at the school entrance: Second- and third-graders stood in a cheerful line and greeted their new classmates with colorful scarves. The bright colors and friendly waves created a festive and warm atmosphere, making the first step into this new chapter of their lives a special experience.
The acting principal, Ms. Hüning, delivered the official welcome remarks at the first-day-of-school ceremony. She warmly welcomed the children, their families, and all the guests in attendance, and wished the new students a great start at Buterland School.
The fourth graders then provided a special highlight with an entertaining musical performance. Titled “A Fairytale First Day of School,” they told the story of Hans, who is about to start his first day of school and is initially very afraid of it. On his way to school, he discovers a magical book. As soon as it is opened, various fairytale characters come to life. With songs, imaginative encounters, and tricky brain teasers, they help Hans overcome his worries and get to know school from a whole new perspective. Little by little, his excitement for the school days ahead grows—and by the end, Hans can hardly wait for his first day of school.
The fourth-graders had rehearsed intensively for the performance both before summer break and on the first day of school. With great enthusiasm, joy, and dedication, they gave their future mentees a special welcome. As new mentors, they wanted to encourage the new students and give them an unforgettable and inspiring start to their school life.
After the musical performance, things finally got serious for the first-graders: Together with their homeroom teachers, they experienced their first class and got a little glimpse into their new school routine. For the new students, this marks the beginning of an exciting time full of new experiences and encounters.
