In the last weeks of school, pupils learn everything they need to know about dental health and the structure of teeth. The dental health working group provides information about this. At various stations, the children learn about the ingredients of toothpastes, the structure of the teeth and the functions of each tooth.
At the beginning of the event, the importance of fluoride was explained to the fourth-year pupils. To do this, one egg was smeared with toothpaste and another was left natural. The eggs were then placed in vinegar. This symbolizes the daily attack of sugar and acids in everyday life. The egg without treatment began to dissolve. In contrast, the one with a protective coating of toothpaste remained untouched. The children in year four even had the opportunity to make their own toothpaste. They were also able to design their own toothpaste tube.
The second year was able to make their own set of teeth. To do this, they had to look carefully at which tooth goes where in the denture.
In the coming weeks, the first and second years will also have the chance to get to grips with the topic.
