Theme days

for sustainable living and nature

The theme days took place just in time for spring, when everything is becoming greener again and nature is coming back to life. Monday and Tuesday were all about the environment and sustainability. The children were able to choose their projects in the preceding weeks. These were some of the projects on offer:

  • Plastic in the sea
  • Understanding Greta Thunberg and Fridays for Future
  • Water as a resource
  • Origin of the clothing
  • Upcycling
  • Origin of the food and how this can be sustainable

A representative of the Protestant Church and a representative of the Catholic Church were also present. They explored the question of what God has created and how this creation can be preserved.

The children were informed about protecting the environment and treating it more carefully using a wide range of materials. The pupils also showed great interest in the various projects. In the photo, the pupils have even created posters like a demonstration.

On Tuesday, the raised bed at Buterland School received new plants. The early bloomers had to go and make way for strawberries, carrots, peppers and more.

The staff at Buterland School hope that the children enjoyed the activities and that the importance of this subject area has become clear.
