Over the past few weeks, the second-grade classes at Buterland School have been exploring various aspects of climate protection and, at the awards ceremony hosted by Mayor Jörg von Borcykowski and Climate Protection Manager Elena Niehoff, they took home a participation award, a second-place prize, and a first-place prize.
- Ms. Gelking and Ms. Busch's second-grade class (2c) presented the project "Cycling Safely to School" and received recognition for participating in the competition.
- The Hedgehog Class (2a), led by their homeroom teacher Ms. Flucht, used a thermal imaging camera to examine the various structural elements of Buterland School. At the awards ceremony, the class not only took second place but also received a class set of personalized water bottles.
- Mr. Krage’s Fox Class (2b) conducted an experiment using planters based on the concept of the “sponge city.” They investigated which soil conditions are best for retaining water. Afterward, they planted pumpkins and fall raspberries. This project won first place, earning the Fox Class a field trip to the Klimahaus in Bremerhaven.
