The time had finally come: After an unusually late last day of school, everyone in the Buterland School community was all the more excited for their well-deserved summer vacation.
The final day began with a special highlight following a brief speech by Ms. Hüning. A rousing flash mob set to Ed Sheeran’s song “Sapphire” created a great atmosphere and got the festivities off to a great start.
Ms. Franke was then honored for her many years of service. For over four years, she had served as chair of the parents’ school council with great dedication. As a token of appreciation, Ms. Hüning presented her with a gift to loud applause and recognized her valuable contributions to the school community.
Before the fourth graders took center stage, the Buterland School bid farewell to a very special colleague: Ms. Albers-Schreuers. After 35 years of dedicated service at Buterland School, she began her well-deserved retirement that day. Her many years of service to the school community were honored with heartfelt words of thanks.
After that, the spotlight turned to the fourth graders. They were given words of encouragement to prepare them for their upcoming transition to middle school and were finally given a traditional send-off from elementary school.
Not everyone managed to hold back their tears: At that moment, many children realized that their elementary school years were truly coming to an end—a moving farewell filled with joy, pride, and a touch of sadness all at once.
The faculty of Buterland School wishes all students, parents, and everyone involved a restful summer break, many wonderful moments of relaxation, and a successful start to the new school year.
