On Thursday and Friday, the children worked on individually chosen projects on the topic of diversity and cultures of the world. They were able to discover, design and experience different areas according to their interests.
- Mr. Krage's project was all about an international food festival. The children got to know recipes from different countries and learned about culinary specialties from all over the world.
- Ms. Busch and Ms. Albers-Schreurs focused on dances and movement games from different cultures. First, the children danced together in the music room, later active games in the schoolyard ensured lots of movement and fun.
- Mr. Salzmann offered "Sports games around the world". In the sports hall, the children experienced a variety of movement games in which team spirit, fairness and a sense of community played an important role.
- In Ms. Melchers' project, the children dealt with the history of writing. They learned about the similarities and differences between various writing systems and developed their own creative scripts.
- Ms. Huesmann and Ms. Terhuerne focused on stories from all over the world. The children listened to stories told by children from different countries, tried out suitable games, learned about typical drinks from different countries and designed creative craft and painting activities based on the stories they heard.
- Ms. Flucht provided an insight into the world's religions. The focus was on openness, curiosity and a respectful approach to unfamiliar religions.
- In Mr. Zellner's project "Around the world with art", the children looked at typical works of art from different countries and designed their own creative works based on various models.
- Ms. Dalhaus invited the children to get to know music from all over the world. The children listened to typical pieces of music from different countries and performed them creatively and artistically.
- Mrs. Nadermann discovered and played board games from all over the world. The children learned about games that are played by children in different countries. Finally, each child made their own game.
- In Ms. Essink's stop-motion project, the children designed their own personal flag that reflected their characteristics, interests and hobbies. They then explained their ideas with the help of a stop-motion video they created themselves.
- Ms. Saalmann and Ms. Duesmann took the children on a little trip around the world. The children got to know different countries through games, arts and crafts, movement activities and lots of adventures. A self-designed passport was gradually filled with new impressions.
- Mrs. Overmeyer created a diversity tree as a joint project. After reading the picture book "Das Vier-Farben-Land" ("The Land of Four Colors") aloud, a floor picture was designed together and then the diversity tree was creatively implemented.
- In Mrs. Thröner's "Garden of Diversity", the children designed flower pots and planted them. They also learned about where fruit, vegetables and spices grow and where different foods come from.
- Ms. Hoppe introduced different cultures and continents. The children were able to choose from a wide range of craft activities and create dream catchers, boomerangs, lanterns, masks and necklaces, for example.
- In Ms. Targas' project, the children looked at clothing from all over the world and learned about different fashion styles and cultural characteristics.
- Ms. Abbing focused on the message "Individually we are unique - together we are a masterpiece!". Each child designed an individual puzzle piece that expressed their own personality and creativity. In the end, all the pieces were used to create a large, joint diversity puzzle as a symbol of cohesion and community.
The project days offered the children a wide range of opportunities to get to know new perspectives, be creative and experience the importance of diversity, openness and community in a variety of ways.
