At the end of this school year, Ms. Albers-Schreurs will be retiring after 35 years at Buterland School. Her journey at the school began back in the 1991–1992 school year—a journey she has shaped over more than three decades with great dedication, warmth, and tireless commitment.
Anyone who met Ms. Albers-Schreurs always found her with a smile on her face and a positive aura. This optimistic attitude enriched everyday school life and was equally infectious for children, parents, and colleagues alike. With her approachable manner and her focus on what was achievable, she repeatedly provided valuable inspiration for school life—whether in organizing sports festivals, further developing teaching concepts such as working with weekly schedules, or in many other projects.
Over the past 35 years, school life has changed in many ways. New curricula, evolving educational approaches, digitalization, numerous project weeks, and many other developments have shaped her daily school life. Ms. Albers-Schreurs has approached all these changes with an open mind, her experience, and a desire to actively help shape the school.
She was particularly known for her ability to recognize the strengths of each individual child. She often identified abilities and potential long before the children themselves believed in them. With patience, encouragement, and great empathy, she guided generations of students on their journey, leaving a lasting impact along the way.
Her passion for her profession is still evident today. Even after officially retiring from active teaching, she remained at Buterland School for several more years and continued to support the school community—for example, by showing great dedication to teaching swimming. This willingness to go above and beyond deserves special recognition.
Her farewell was celebrated last school year with the faculty at the time as well as many former colleagues. This was a striking testament to how many people she had guided and influenced during her long tenure at Buterland School.
The staff at Buterland School—as well as many former colleagues—would like to express their heartfelt thanks for her hard work, the countless wonderful moments, and her extraordinary dedication. As she embarks on this new chapter in her life, we wholeheartedly wish Ms. Albers-Schreurs good health, joy, many enriching experiences, and the time to enjoy all the things that often took a back seat during her professional career.
