In the week from 11.03 to 15.03, volunteers from the Gronau hospice visit class 4b. The pupils talk to the volunteers about all the important questions of life and also about dying.
Monday's topic was "Becoming and passing away". The students reflected on their lives to date and what has become of them.
Health complaints and illnesses were also a topic of conversation. Complaints such as a twisted foot or cancer were addressed.
Over the course of the week, the topic of "death" and "dying" was also discussed. The children shared their experiences with each other. A film on the subject showed the pupils how people deal with death and the dying. It showed how people go on their "last journey".
A doctor also came to visit one morning. He gave the pupils the opportunity to ask any questions they had about "health", as well as "illness" and "death".
On the last day of the project week, the students dealt with the topic of "comforting". They thought about all the things that can help them get over their grief. They also had breakfast together with the children's parents.
