"Reading is important!" is a phrase that children surely hear several times a week at home from their parents or from their teachers at school.
In order to become a good reader, constant reading training is imperative. That's why, since this school year, ALL children at Buterland School start their school day with a reading time in which they strengthen their reading skills in a creative way. After all, reading should also be fun.
To strengthen the children's motivation to read, the 2nd and 3rd grades visited the Gronau public library. There, they were allowed to browse freely according to their individual interests and get a taste of different book genres. It was to be expected that the students' interest was aroused. Now many of the children will go back to the public library with their parents to borrow books. In any case, this visit strengthened the children's interest in reading and showed them that important reading can also be combined with fun!
We would like to say a big thank you to the Gronau public library. They made it possible for almost 160 children to spend six mornings marveling at the numerous books, snuggling up in the reading corner to listen to stories, and getting to know the library's many options.
